The Centre for Defence Communications and Information Networking at the University of Adelaide is an advanced engineering centre devoted solving defence oriented problems involving modelling, simulation, measurement and performance.

The aims of the centre are:

  • To be a focus for advanced defence communication and information networking engineering, research and development.
  • To act as a major independent source of network and system design and analysis expertise for the defence industry by linking academic research to defence industry capability needs.
  • To provide a guaranteed source of advanced capability in communications and information systems.
  • To ensure the ongoing existence and growth of capability in defence communications networking through extended continuing education and training programs.
  • The Centre builds on the skills of its key staff and associates, who combined have over 100 years of industrial, government and academic experience in system and network modelling and analysis. This expertise, developed in leading industry and university laboratories in the USA, Europe and Australia, is uniquely placed to provide the cutting edge analysis needed for understanding the behaviour of networked systems, predicting their future performance, measuring outcomes and feeding that knowledge into future improvements.

CDCIN runs short-term courses on specialist topics, specifically designed to strengthen the skills of employees in the defence industry.

CDCIN, through its affiliation with the Disciplines of Mathematics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Adelaide, is committed to the pursuit of academic excellence. This partnership takes the form of conducting undergraduate teaching, supervision of postgraduate students and collaborative research.

CDCIN is located at Level 2, 10 Pulteney St, Adelaide (very near the intersection of Pulteney St and North Terrace).

Visit www.cdcin.adelaide.edu.au/training for details of our new advanced short course on modelling and simulation of defence communications systems.

CDCIN, in collaboration with the Institute for Telecommunications Research at UniSA, BAE Systems, Cisco and ASC has been awarded a major grant by the South Australian Government's Premier's Science and Research Fund. See our website for more details.
